Felson's

You probably spotted Felson’s signage popping up on Renfrew Street beside the cinema a few months ago, bordered by lightbulbs and boldly declaring itself a “cocktail lounge and stick hall". There’s little more to see from street level, but a quick trip up the stairs into this surprisingly roomy snooker spot proves that it very much does what it says on the tin.

The space is used well, open and colourful with a bunch of snooker tables arranged over two levels, and decorated with pictures of Paul Newman in his iconic role as Fast Eddie Felson in The Hustler, from which the venue took its name. You can play shuffleboard, pinball and a bunch of other games here too.

The bar's cocktail list is fun and thorough, and there is a lightheartedness to its signature selection – think Corona-ritas and Oreo Espresso Martinis. The Movie and Chill is a spiced rum and butterscotch liqueur concoction, which arrives topped with popcorn. The food menu is a mix of reliable shareables – wings, pizzas, nachos and topped fries; just the kind of thing you can come and go from as you reapproach the table to beat your opponent, or lessen your own loss after drinking a couple of cocktails.

Felson's is a well-appointed and upbeat addition to the city.
