Wester Spirit Co.

Wester Spirit Co. is the first rum distillery in Glasgow for over 300 years. Co-founders Allan Nairn and Zander Macgregor are the guys behind the city’s first spiced rum and have been cooking things up in Strathearn for a few years before finally finding a place to call their own in the West End of Glasgow.

Forgoing traditional copper stills in the distilling process, Wester uses stainless steel instead and their new spot gives them room for a 500 litre still, taking their production capacity from 250 bottles a month to over 6000. The distillery itself is a cool, spacious warehouse space just off Dumbarton Road in the beating heart of Partick. It can also be used to host pop-up restaurants, private parties and secret gigs, allowing punters to eat, drink and dance around the 500 litre still.

Tours and rum masterclasses are on offer from Thursday-Sunday, culminating in cocktail making with their signature spirit. With their wings no longer clipped by the limitations of their former space, plans are afoot for different varieties in the new year; a white rum perhaps, as well as further collaborations with other brands, following their limited release collaboration with Drygate Brewing Co. last year.
