497 Great Western Road | Glasgow G12 8HL
You'll be drawn to the red neon sign in the window of Cottonrake flashing 'doughnuts' at all who walk along Great Western Road. There aren’t any doughnuts inside, but you’ll forgive them when you see what this bakery does offer: piles of breakfast pastries, lemon meringue tarts, carrot cakes, massive scones, stacks of cookies… the list could (and does) go on. Cottonrake has its roots in Hyndland, but relocated to the Great Western Road part of town in January 2014. There’s not much seating space, only a few narrow benches and high stools – but if you manage to bag one, you’re in for some prime people-watching. Otherwise, grab a cake (or a pie, or a homemade sausage roll) and go.
