Musselburgh's own testament to the philanthropy of John Brunton is a mid-sized theatre with a varied performance programme. You'll catch all flavours of drama and musical theatre, dance and theatre-skills workshops and many a children's performance gracing the stage of The Brunton. Touring companies from near and far also make stops at the venue. Indeed, the proud forty-year history of the venue has been packed with success upon success.
The building itself is made up of two auditoriums with raked seating steep enough to give even the back rows an unhindered view of the action. The larger seating 500 audience members.
The more recent addition of the Brunton Theatre Bistro works in harmony with the venue, providing an excellent lunch, snack and pre-theatre menu that can be booked at the same time as your performance tickets. And, if you're anticipating a hankering for a tipple during the intermission, you're invited to order drinks in advance, leaving you to enjoy Act 1 safe in the knowlege that there's a large red wine waiting for you at curtain fall. Wonderful.
