Kathputli Colony: A Tale of Art and Resistance

Past event at Pianodrome at the Old Royal High

Wed 10 Aug

Entry from £8

Kathputli Colony is India's biggest community of traditional artists, home to thousands of musicians, dancers, puppeteers and street-performers. Despite being forced from their homes into transit camps around Delhi, they keep their creative spirit and acts of resistance alive though these artforms. This show is a celebration of our culture: first-hand stories of courage and persistence told through Indian folk songs, traditional puppetry, musical instruments and explosive Dhol drumming, guaranteed to leave you dancing in your seats! 'Residents of Kathputli Colony in Delhi resist slum re-development through song, dance, magic' (Hindustan Times).
