When it comes to bringing the art of modern Indian dining to Edinburgh, the team at Navadhanya aren't exactly short on talent. Their bright and airy restaurant on Grindlay Street offers a fresh and exciting take on Indian cooking, promising to take its customers on a culinary journey from the south to the north of India.

You're in good hands here. Head Chef, Chef Tharveskhan, AKA Chef Khan, has over 15 years experience working with some of the finest talent in the industry. He started his career young in his native India, working for the luxury Taj Group hotel chain, before moving on to the bright lights of London, where he honed his skills at the Michelin Star restaurant Tamarind Mayfair. Navadhanya brings together his love of rustic Indian dining with fresh British ingredients, and if you ask us, it's a marriage made in heaven.

Their menu is brimming with exciting options. Start big with the monkfish, served with mango puree, pink salt and beetroot. Tempt those tastebuds with a plate of Podi Dosa (think rice crepe stuffed with Indian spices and dal). Tuck into a venison kebab. Then come the big guns, the mains. Why play it safe when you can tuck into a grand old helping of lobster's tail, or a succulent lamb shank, cooked over six hours in caramelised onions, cardamom and fennel? The veggie options are calling too, with smoked aubergine, mushroom kofta and channa masala all making their mark on the page.

Not sure where to start? You couldn't go wrong with a seven course tasting menu, selected by the chef himself. There's also a neat range of pre-theatre options, perfect if you're needing a quick bite before heading to nearby venues such as the Filmhouse, Usher Hall, or the Traverse, Lyceum or King's Theatres. Just make sure to arrive with an empty belly; once you start, you're not going to want to stop.
