Over the last few years, The Black Fox has earned its stamp as one of the top spots on Leith Walk with its small-but-perfectly-formed bar and crowd pleasin' grub. Now, they're determined to bring their foxy vibes shoreward, and have opened up a second joint a mere whisker away from Leith's waterfront.
Previously known as The Greenhouse, The Black Fox by the Shore manages to ride that wave that sits somewhere inbetween city centre swank and village pub vibe, with sumptuous leather chairs and chunky wooden tables sitting comfortably alongside exposed stone walls and open brickwork. Unlike many central bars, which only kick off their meals when the sun begins to set, it caters well for a daytime crowd too, with fab brunches served from 11am, 'wee bites' served all day and more substantial burgers kicking off from 5pm.
Where The Fox comes in to its own though is in their ability to cater for a range of dietary requirements. Take the burgers, for example. Gone are the dismal options once associated with veggie fare; instead, you could find yourself munching on a Jackfruit Sloppy Joe, a Falafel Burger or a cheese-tastic Halloumi & Brie burger, fit for kings, queens and everything in-betweens! Intolerances are taken into account too; the coleslaw, for example, is dairy free, while the foccacia buns come in a fully vegan format. There's a nice range of drinks too, to wash it all down with. Organic wines? Tick. Adventurous cocktails? Double tick. Craft beers? Tick, tick, tick!
The party doesn't end there though, not when there's two excellent function rooms available for hire. What's more? There's no charge! Whether you're looking for somewhere to see in a special occasion or to commisserate another year lost against the inevitable process of ageing, these guys have got you covered.
