One of the great things about McChuills is the clarity and honesty of its vision – to quote them almost directly, a bar for the weekly good times, the mid-week downtimes, and the occasional all-day bender.

Yes, there are bands, and yes, they do food, but really the ideal reason to go to McChuills is for that drink you’ve been thinking about all day – the one you get after that killer 13-hour shift, or that dissertation hand-in. It’s always great to see some Weinstephan behind a bar, and the selection of specialty beers on offer gets changed up regularly. There’s also tonnes of space and seats underneath the main room’s low-lying arches, making it great for groups and mass meet-ups. Regular events at McChuills include the Nuts poker leage (Tuesday), acoustic open mics (Thursday), and it’s excellent for sports too, with big-screen Sky Sports and ESPN.
