Star Bar

Despite being hidden away in a residential area of the New Town, Star Bar isn't one for the rah crowd (any local will know exactly what is mean by this).

Rather it's a low key, cosy little bar, where punters can steal some rays in the beer garden on those blessed days of Lothian Sun. What's more, there's a jukebox, table football and buckets upon buckets of atmosphere. Split over two levels, with the lower area tends to be used to screen sports, but also more occasionally plays host to the odd live band or two.

It is also the only bar in Edinburgh that has a clause in the lease forbidding the removal of a reputedly cursed (as in, 'you will die tragically if you move me') human skull. You might find this factor somewhat disconcerting...But, hey – other than that it's all beer, cocktails and happy days. Phew.
