McEwan Hall

Glorious late-19th century domed ceremony building, designed in imitation of a traditional Greek theatre. Since it's part of the Edinburgh University campus, its most frequent role is to dress up as a big fancy graduation hall. But if sitting watching people get diplomas doesn't really set you alight with excitement, pop along to one of the regular open lectures or public events. The draughtiness is worth it, if only for a gander at the fabulous mural ceiling.
