Artisan Roast's self-proclaimed coffee obsessives have been introducing people to the art of coffee (and the evils of instant) since 2007. Their brand has become synonymous with good coffee – becoming a draw itself on the menu of other establishments that serve it. Their beans are roasted on-site and the baristas really care about not only the beans, but also the pour, and getting the milk at just the right temperature. If prompted, they're only too happy to tell you all about it and make you care too.
The Brunstfield branch of this coffee behemoth was was originally established as a pop-up coffee shop during the 2011 Fringe Festival, but it continues to thrive to this day. This cosy cafe is a great place to sit back, relax, and take in those tasty coffee scents. It's very open-plan, as all the AR branches are, so you can see exactly what the master brewers are doing with those beans – not to mention what's going on with their tasty cakes, which you'll almost definitely have your eye on.
If you've ended up here in pursuit of a new coffee shop in Edinburgh, you've done good. Artisan Roast is kind of a big deal. Every year The Skinny holds a Food and Drink Survey, where we put out the feelers for the best bars, cafes and restaurants in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Artisan roast made it into the winners' lineup within the category of best cafe for this year, and also back in 2014 and 2015. Check out the results of this year's survey here to find out who else made the cut.
