Takács Quartet

Past event at The Queen's Hall

Mon 15 Aug

Entry from £13

Regular visitors to the International Festival, the Takács Quartet brings music to stir and delight in a vivid and passionate performance.

Among the world’s most accomplished chamber ensembles – and one of its most musically distinctive – the Takács Quartet draws proudly on its early Hungarian origins in its vivid musical personality and passionate performances. Its members have been universally praised for their immaculate balance between rich individual playing and compelling overall sound.

Regular and much-admired visitors to the International Festival over many years, they bring music to stir and delight the emotions. Haydn maintains all the vigour of his youth amid the gracefulness and craftsmanship of his final string quartet, while Samuel Coleridge-Taylor reveals an unbridled sonic imagination in the five vivid musical pictures of his Fantasiestücke. The Takács players bring the concert to a magical close with the exquisite melodies and sophistication of Ravel’s deeply moving String Quartet.
