Edinburgh's own Dunedin Consort is joined by tenor Nicholas Mulroy for a compelling performance, with John Butt conducting.

Performing regularly at the International Festival for many years, Edinburgh’s own Dunedin Consort has rapidly established itself among Europe’s most vivid, compelling early music ensembles, under the visionary direction of conductor and scholar John Butt.

With a repertoire stretching from the 17th century to the present day – as demonstrated in their acclaimed performances of Errollyn Wallen’s Dido’s Ghost in 2021 – the Dunedin musicians inject bristling energy and vibrant freshness into all they perform.

Joined by brilliant British tenor Nicholas Mulroy, the Dunedin musicians explore music from a century before Bach. Their rich, vibrant repertoire of works from early 17th-century Germany and Italy ranges from expressive tenor arias by Schütz and Monteverdi to choral and instrumental works, concluding with Venetian composer Barbara Strozzi’s remarkably expressive miniature cantata, Lagrime mie.
