"We've called ourselves grunge, we've called ourselves 'nice pop', we've called ourselves alternative... it's essentially the same thing."

So says Jen Hingley of False Advertising, the Manchester three-piece who've been making waves since they first began making noise together in 2013. Anyone familiar with these pages may have spotted a few descriptions of our own: "Juliana Hatfield backed by Dinosaur Jr," we said of their debut single Wasted Away. "A serious and compelling proposition," we said of their self-titled (and thus far only) album. "A fiery and cerebral reworking of classic US alt-pop," we said after yet another stellar live performance.

In short, we've found lots to recommend about the three-piece, completed by Chris Warr and Josh Sellers, but ultimately it's not just about words: the best way to get to know False Advertising is to experience them for yourself. Watch a specially-recorded live performance in the player above, and look out for the band's forthcoming live performances.
