Following their recent series of line-up announcements, grassroots musical festival Threshold has announced a crowdfunding campaign to help support this year's event. With a focus on emerging artists and low-cost tickets, the three-day festival has traditionally been reliant on funding, but following a setback from their usual sources, they have turned to the local community for help.

Now in its seventh year, Threshold organisers are hoping to raise at least £9,000 to help cover the shortfall in funding, with rewards including Threshold tickets, merchandise and more. As festival producer Chris Carney explains: “Funding is never guaranteed, so there has always been a very fine balance of ‘will we or won’t we’ each year.

“Over the last seven years we've produced an important and dynamic festival, sometimes with personal money going into it, always with brilliantly supportive artists, audiences, volunteers, funders, sponsors, venues and suppliers who have helped to keep the event afloat on a shoestring budget.

“Due to a shortfall in this year's funding our plans for Threshold Festival in 2017 are not currently matched by the budget we have available, and so we are turning to our immensely supportive and loyal audience and the local creative and business communities.”

The crowdfunding campaign can be found at crowdfunder.co.uk/threshold2017. Threshold takes place in Liverpool's Baltic Triangle district, 31 Mar-2 Apr, with this year's performers including Hannah Peel, XamVolo, Hey Colossus and Galactic Funk Militia, with more yet to be announced.
