A hip-hop inspired new project from sonic boomer Jonnie Common and Conquering Animal Sound's Jamie Scott, CARBS take to The Glad Cafe to launch their debut LP, Joyous Material Failure (reviewed here) – a dizzying mix of collected sounds, slouchy electronica, and skewed sort-of-rap. Support comes from Phoene and Sham Gate, with Miaoux Miaoux positioning himself behind the decks post-gig. The duo talk us through the album, track-by-track, in its premiere here.
5. ART | Jompet Kuswidananto: Grand Parade
The Glue Factory, Glasgow. Opens 10 Sep, Wed-Sun, free

The Discover Indonesia programme continues with Indonesian multimedia artist and theatre maker Jompet Kuswidananto touring his Grand Parade installation to Scotland (following a stint at the Tropenmuseum in Amsterdam) – a visually-arresting set-up of light, sound, and movement depicting dozens of human figures in festive, ceremonial, and political dress aligned in a big square (pictured).
6. CLUBS | Headway w/ Bicep
Reading Rooms, Dundee. 11 Sep, 10.30pm, £12 here

7. FOOD & DRINK | Dumpling Night
The Glad Cafe, Glasgow. 15 Sep, 7.30pm, £8 here

After a busy festival period (not to mention the renovation of a gargantuan new space in Fountainbridge, opening in 2018), Edinburgh Printmakers kicks off its autumn season with a showcase of four contemporary British artists – George Charman, Carla Scott Fullerton, Andrew MacKenzie (pictured artwork), and Bronwen Sleigh – each with an interest in architectural structures, surfaces, materials, and forms.
