Hot on the heels of winning Best Newcomer at the 2017 Scottish Alternative Music Awards, Glasgow’s Shredd are set to release their new single, Flight of Stairs, on 10 Nov. Working for the second time with Bruce Rintoul (Fatherson, Twin Atlantic, Vukovi), Flight of Stairs sounds massive with its fuzz-heavy bass, vocal effects and screeching guitars.

The Skinny are delighted to be premiering the single, which you can listen to in the player below. Of the track, Shredd tell us: “We've been a band for just over a year but Flight of Stairs was actually one of the very first songs we wrote together as a band. When we started rehearsing we had a couple of ideas already written by Chris [Harvie] (guitar/vocals); Flight of Stairs just came from us messing around at rehearsals.

“We take a lot of influence from bands like Thee Oh Sees and that's the direction we wanted to take with the song initially, it just kind of grew arms and legs from there. Lyrically the song is generally about someone going through a rough time that just keeps going on, like a never-ending flight of stairs.”

To celebrate Flight of Stairs’ release, catch Shredd at the single’s launch show at Nice ‘n’ Sleazy on 10 Nov; their biggest headline show to date, they will be joined on the night by American Clay, and The Kidney Flowers. Tickets available here.
