Here at The Skinny it’s important that, in the face of adversity, we continue to support as many artists releasing new music as we can. A couple of months back we agreed to premiere the music video for Glasgow-based singer-songwriter Peter Johnstone’s single Yoko Ono.

It’s the title track for his brand new EP, which he was set to launch with a gig this coming Thursday at The Glad Cafe in Glasgow. Understandably, due to increasing concerns surrounding the coronavirus, the show will sadly not go on – but the music must.

Shot in Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow, the video for Yoko Ono is utterly charming and super twee as it follows Johnstone around the venue as he sings of being ‘scared of flying solo’, which is something I think we can all relate to right now. Watch the video in the above YouTube player or click here if it’s not displaying correctly.

Of the video, Johnstone tells us: "The music video was a lot of fun to film and was partly inspired by my time talking nonsense as a tour guide. The other part of the video is a reference to Yoko Ono's Cut Piece. I got friends from Facebook to cut my clothes off, [which was] a very awkward Facebook post." On his thoughts towards Yoko Ono, he adds: "It is meant to be a loving tribute because I really do like Yoko Ono."

Johnstone’s EP launch was meant to take place at The Glad Cafe this coming Thursday 19 March with support from Hailey Beavis and Flew the Arrow. Please do whatever you can to help support artists and venues at this time of uncertainty.

Yoko Ono is set for release on 19 March
