My name is Tony Thrills and I am the host for The Castle Rocks Breakdance Championships as well as a member of Edinburgh B-Boy crew Random Aspekts.

For me, originality is paramount within hip-hop culture. Making an individual statement through fashion, art, sound and movement becomes the goal and the sense of one-upmanship is an integral aspect.

Castle Rocks shares this philosophy. Since 2006 it has consistently sold out and grown to become a must-see event for both the Fringe and UK B-Boy calendars.

Castle Rocks is unique because it appeals to a wide audience whilst retaining the integrity and vibe of an underground jam. The battles and cyphers take place on the floor, not on a stage, with two balcony levels creating an amphitheatre style set up. You can hear, see and literally feel all the action. The atmosphere is simply electric. Some of the best urban performers from the Fringe programme come to showcase their talents. Brazil Brazil, Zoo Nation and Tom Tom Club have smashed it in previous years... beat boxing virtuoso, Shlomo, is up next.

It's important that everyone has a good time so we make sure the party continues long after the battles are over. The afterparties, fuelled by Scottish hospitality, have become legendary!
