Edinburgh Cocktail Weekend announced

More than forty of the city's bars will take part in the new event this October

The set-up for the inaugural Edinburgh Cocktail Weekend is pretty ingenious and pleasantly straightforward – buy a £5 wristband, and you'll be able to grab a specially-designed signature cocktail in any of the Weekend's participating bars for just £4. Having quickly run the numbers, we reckon this works out as a Pretty Good Deal, and a great encouragement to go bar-hopping rather than planting yourself in one spot all evening. Wristbands will also get holders access to free masterclasses and tastings, as well as access to Edinburgh Cocktail Weekend pop-up spaces and events – details of all that lot will be revealed in the run-up to the event this autumn.

The participating list of venues is pretty hefty – you can find a full rundown below – with some of our early highlights including Edinburgh Gin's Heads & Tales bar, the Boda group of Swedish-inspired venues including Akva, Boda and Joseph Pearce's, the ever-intriguing Scottish Malt Whisky Society, and the cosy, atmospheric bolthole that is Nightcap on York Place.

Edinburgh Cocktail Weekend takes place at various venues across the city on 6, 7 & 8 October; wristbands are on sale now via EventBrite.
