Stranger Things season two trailer, featuring Eleven & Michael Jackson

Young Will Byers is having a tough time of things in the first full length trailer for season two of Stranger Things, and Eleven returns from the upside down

“Nothing is going to go back to the way it was,” says police chief Jim Hopper (David Harbour) in voiceover in the first full trailer for season two of Stranger Things. No shit.

The last time we saw the residents of Hawkins, Indiana, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), the telekinetic hero of the first series, had disappeared in a cloud of ash while vanquishing the Demogorgon, the creature from a parallel dimension (which the kids dub the upside down) who had been killing people from the town – including the much-missed Barbs.

Things weren’t great for Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) either. The kid who was rescued from the upside down at the end of the first season was last seen coughing up slugs and flashing back to the other dimension, and as the new trailer suggests, young Will is still messed up from his experience.

The three minute promo opens with Will and his three best pals – Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) – heading to an arcade to play the video game Dragon's Lair. But Will is distracted by something outside and finds himself in the upside down with a huge, spider-like creature heading towards Hawkins.

After this chilly opening the creepy timber of Vincent Price kicks in with his vocals from Michael Jackson’s Thriller, and they acts as a neat summing up of Stranger Things plot:

“Darkness falls across the land
The midnight hour is close at hand
Creatures crawl in search of blood
To terrorise y'awl's neighbourhood
And whosoever shall be found
Without the soul for getting down
Must stand and face the hounds of hell
And rot inside a corpse's shell”

Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder), Will’s mother, asks her son what does the dark force coming towards town want? “No me,” says Will. “Everyone else.”

You might be thinking to yourself, “The residents of Hawkins don’t stand a chance.” Well luckily for them, there’s a little surprise at the end of the trailer, with our pint-sized hero Eleven finding her way back to the real world.
