Don't-miss parties this week:
Fri 1 Jul
The Big Disco
with Craig Charles, Alex Metric, Greg Wilson, Brett Domino, Justin Robertson & more
Duke Studios, 3pm, £16.50
It's all about this blummin' disco ball lately isn't it? Oh, wait, what's that you say? It's the world's biggest? Oh, fair enough then. DJs Craig Charles and Greg Wilson are set to play next to a glittering orb the height of a few houses, while Skinny fave Justin Robertson will double up, playing the daytime party as well as the afterparty (at the same venue, from 11pm; you can buy a separate ticket for just the afterparty if you prefer). Can't say fairer than that.

Selective Hearing presents Palms Trax & friends
Wire, 8 Jul, 11pm, £8
Berlin's enviably youthful Palms Trax (just look at that face) is the man of choice for this year's Selective Hearing summer party. He'll be playing a three-hour set in the bowels of Wire, ably propped up by friends and residents; expect feverish house and febrile, continent-crossing beats.
Limit launch party
with Marquis Hawkes, Elliot Adamson & more
Wire, 6 Aug, 11pm, £6/£8/£10
Huddersfield club night Limit has made appearances at Wire over the years, but it now sets up in Leeds properly with a sterling launch party lineup. Dixon Avenue Basement Jams and Aus affiliated artist Marquis Hawkes – who's more recently found a home on Fabric's Houndstooth imprint – takes the lead, with Newcastle up-and-comer Elliot Adamson following swiftly behind. Repping Leeds are local talents Gas House Kids (Josh Plews and Aden Konrad), plus Limit's own DJs. Give 'em a hearty welcome.
The Garden Party part 3
with Dusky, Alan Fitzpatrick, Denis Sulta & more
The Faversham, 28 Aug, 12pm (afterparty at Wire, 10pm), £20/£25
Leeds' homegrown Garden Party festival returns to where it all started, The Faversham, for a third and final blowout of the summer. Sultry house pair Dusky headline, with Drumcode records' Alan Fitzpatrick and Glasgow's Denis Sulta making short work of support. As the Fav winds down at 11pm, the party continues at Wire (10pm-4am).
Festival watch
Look out for Farr Festival (14-16 Jul), which brings the likes of Francis Inferno Orchestra, Young Marco, Kon and Moomin to deepest Hertfordshire (worth the trek) and is starting to run low on tickets. Keep a watchful eye on the fest's Facebook for info.
We'd recommend getting your tickets in for bluedot festival (22-24 Jul), too: art by Brian Eno, a headline set from Underworld and Ben UFO, George Fitzgerald and Beyond the Wizard's Sleeve all spinning in the shadow of Jodrell Bank space observatory...?! Too good to be true really. Read more on the lineup here.
