Stay Fresh Sessions: Seize The Chair

Watch a live video of Sheffield's motorik alt rockers Seize The Chair, ahead of their appearance at Stay Fresh Fest 2 in Manchester

Meet Sheffield quartet Seize The Chair, whose addictive racket amounts to a deliciously inventive cocktail of experimental pop influences. For evidence, take a listen to the fizzing, mysterious and fast-unfurling blanket of sound of Knew You'd Never Been There: the repetitive pulses at its heart are pure krautrock, but there's a commitment to ear-battering noise and sumptuous melody that takes them beyond your stereotypical motorik homage. Ones to watch, and no mistake.

They've already toured with Chichester noiseniks TRAAMS and appeared on two 7" singles, courtesy of the Too Pure label. And as for future plans? You can catch the band live at Stay Fresh Fest 2 in Manchester on 28 January, alongside Mums, Henge, The Orielles and more from the fertile terrain of the UK's DIY scene. In the meantime, get to know the band via the video above, specially shot for Stay Fresh at Manchester's Low Four studio – and for clarity, yes, that's a brownie that drummer James Freeman's scoffing.

Seize The Chair play Stay Fresh Fest 2 with The OriellesHenge, Strobes, Luxury Death, Mums and Patty Hearst @ The Deaf Institute, Manchester, 28 Jan
