Veteran Berlin techno outfit Modeselektor recently embarked on a tour of India. While they were there, Red Bull Music Academy filmed a meet between the duo of Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary, and electronic pioneer Charanjit Singh.

His seminal 1982 album Synthesizing: 10 Ragas to a Disco Beat is considered a ground-breaking classic of electronic music, pioneering the use of the TR-808 and TB-303 to make hypnotic disco beats which foreshadowed the sound of acid house, wrapped up with traditional Indian ragas.

Modeselektor met Singh in Mumbai to talk about the classic album and his contribution to the evolution of electronic production. Singh also gives them a demonstration of his techniques.
