Aino Elina is an electro-pop artist originally from Lapland, Finland. Based in Edinburgh, Aino Elina is currently working on an EP planned for later this year, which will feature urban pop songs in the Finnish language.

Aino Elina was recently brought to our attention with a teaser video ahead of the release of her debut single, Vankina, released on 31 Mar. Of the song Aino Elina tells The Skinny: “Vankina – which means imprisoned or trapped – is a song about inner struggle, turmoil and the feeling of not being able to move on. The music video portrays these feelings of anxiety and uneasiness, and also offers a way to deal with them: creativity.”

The release of Vankina was celebrated with a launch night to premiere a crowdsourced music video which accompanies the single. “The idea behind this crowd sourced project comes from the director Margherita Turrin,” Aino Elina continues. “She wanted people to get involved in the making of the video by digitally drawing on still pictures from the shoot. This huge art collaboration invites viewers to enjoy the fast-paced changes of mood, colours and shapes, or to pause and admire each piece frame by frame.”

We are thrilled to be premiering this unique collaboration, which you can watch in the player above.
