Edinburgh Hogmanay Street Party
Edinburgh City Centre. 31 Dec, 7pm-1am

Street party, you say? Sure thing: indie veterans Maximo Park headline the party’s Waverley stage, while fast-rising Glasgow five-piece WHITE appear in support of Smith and co. You can also catch shouty duo Slaves, folk-rockers Shooglenifty and Glasgow folk ensemble Rura, as well as a Funk and Soul Classics DJ set from BBC Radio 6’s Craig Charles.

Nightvision
The Liquid Room, Edinburgh. 31 Dec, 9pm-5am

Edinburgh club series Nightvision draws season three to a close with a Hogmanay special, with Scandinavian dance wizard Todd Terje heading up the main room – fresh from his set in Glasgow's SWG3 earlier in the evening, as if to prove he's no slouch – plus a Pulse vs SLVR vs Altitude takeover in the Annexe space.

Optimo Hogmanay
The Art School, Glasgow. 31 Dec, 10.30pm-4am

A core event on the Optimo calendar, promising "the best 'bells at midnight' moment you will experience anywhere." JD Twitch and JG Wilkes (and their old faithful turbo soundsystem, natch) take to The Art School for their annual New Year's Eve mega party with guests including Swiss-German-Finnish-Dutch 21st disco sensations Noo. The Pop Bingo Disco Hogmanay Extravaganza
Electric Circus, Edinburgh. 31 Dec, 10.30pm-5am

The Pop Bingo Disco boys unite clubbing and bingo (finally, right?) for a Hogmanay special, with danceable beats and live bingo featuring the finest charity shop prizes they can get their mitts on. "Expect some of the biggest party tunes and top notch banter," they say. "Get your Pop Bingo Disco Bingo Cairds and pens at the ready and strike off the beats." It's just that easy.

Subculture NYE
Sub Club, Glasgow. 31 Dec, 10pm-4am

Long-running house night Subculture takes control of the Hogmanay decks at Sub Club, with headline guest John Talabot hopefully bringing some sunshine to our wintry lives with his with his Balearic-influenced sets. Support comes from those accomplished Subbie residents Harri & Domnic and Telford, getting the party started as only they know how. (Image: Nick Bojdo)

Rooms NYE: Book Club
Reading Rooms, Dundee. 31 Dec, 10pm-3am

The Reading Rooms host their annual Hogmanay fun night, this time handing over the decks to the Book Club gang and their pals as they fling you into the new year with a highlights reel from the last twelve months – expect killer blows and knock-out punches from Correlate, Van D and Diabeatic,  plus a b2b set courtesy of Is Kill and Marc JD.

La Cheetah's New Year Party
La Cheetah, Glasgow. 31 Dec, 11pm-4am

After reaching their milestone sixth year with some of their best events to date, La Cheetah spread NYE over two floors. Powered by Funktion-One sound systems and manned by a selection of fine electronic guest tunesmiths alongside some trusted party-starters from right here in't city (namely DJ Sprinkles, Palms Trax and Sparky), it's gonna be another good 'un.

Club Noir: New Year's Eve Burlesque
Classic Grand, Glasgow. 31 Dec, 9pm-3am

Glasgow's burlesque star teasers host the New Year's edition of their favourited raunchy cabaret club, with a whole lotta sparkle planned. With the promise of an evening filled with 'champagne, showgirls and show-offs,' and DJs, daredevil fire and bagpipes among the fun, you're advised to dress up and 'look your best ever' (think tuxedoes and ballgowns).

Vegas!: The Grand Hogmanay Ball
Voodoo Rooms, Edinburgh. 31 Dec, 9pm-3am

Annual 50s-themed Hogmanay fun night chock with showgirls, cabaret, burlesque and the like. Or, if alliteration's more your thing: "a magical night of moonlight and martinis, roulette and romance, showgirls and sophistication, blackjack and burlesque, glitz and glamour, cocktails and cool, champagne and cabaret." Sounds good to us.

Scot:Lands
Old Town, Edinburgh. 1 Jan, 1pm-5pm

Braving the New Year's Day hangover? Try this pop-up festival in the capital's Old Town. Chemikal Underground mark their 20th anniversary with a stage starring Miaoux Miaoux (pictured), Emma Pollock and RM Hubbert, while Lyrical:Land features Kathryn Joseph, Michael Pedersen of Neu!
