Arts and performance festival Hidden Door take abandoned or neglected venues and transform them into a magical wonderland of visual arts, musicians and DJs. They took a break this year from a full-blown festival, but they're putting on a mini weekender to launch next year's venue at The Paper Factory in Corstorphine on 22-23 November.

As with all their festivals, there's an incredible lineup of acts including Hot Wax, Witch Fever and headliners Big Joanie and art installations by over 20 artists including Jo Fleming Smith, Beth Shapeero and Fraser Taylor. There's also laser and dance shows all through the night, and for those who just want a sneak peek, you can visit the venue on the Saturday afternoon for free. A Fragile Correspondence

Push the Boat Out

Erland Cooper

Opal Nights: Temple Of Bastet

Catch a perfectly curated mish-mash of local talent at Bloc this weekend: there's Paul Wilkie reading short stories with live SFX by Cameron Orr, dreamy pop band Town Centre (pictured) playing a set, and high energy italo, disco and balearic beats from Ron Yonder and Mark O'Roni. Maud Sulter: You are my kindred spirit

GRDN's 5th Birthday

DIY community party throwers GRDN celebrate turning five this year with a night at the Wee Red Bar, returning to the space theme that marked their first ever venture. Head out on a cosmic adventure with DJs Releaf, noodle and Bartek.

Underfloor Heating
