New Beck Album on the Horizon, But No Scottish Tour Dates

Beck to put out Modern Guilt, but Scottish fans will be left disappointed this summer

There has been good and bad news emanating from Californian funkster Beck’s camp over the past few weeks. In a move that will be his last for Interscope / XL Records, he’s preparing for the release of Modern Guilt, an LP he’s been working on with producer Danger Mouse – he of Gnarls Barkley fame. The album seems set to be take on the shotgun release style favoured by the aforementioned Gnarls, The Raconteurs and, of course, Radiohead. All of which are XL label mates.

Other than the streaming appearance of Beck's new single Chemtrails here, there has been little information made public about the release, but one interesting development is the likely inclusion of a number of tracks featuring the very lovely Chan Marshall, aka Cat Power. No release date has yet been set, but Beck is reported to be trying to sneak the LP out in June, just in time for his recently announced Summer tour, which brings us to the bad news… the schedule is disappointingly lacking Scottish dates at this point in time. He will take to the road for much of July and August, but the closest he gets to touching our soil is his July 2nd gig in Manchester’s Apollo.

It’s certainly a damn shame, but console yourselves with this video for his iTunes only single, Timebomb, from last year.
