Wii Virtual Console: Streets of Rage(Sega)

The game's atmosphere is as prominent as the intuitive control system.

Game Review by Dave Cook | 11 Apr 2007
Causing a ruckus outside nightclubs, fighting members of the public and getting into all kinds of trouble. No, not another Britney Spears bender but Sega's 16-bit scrapper Streets of Rage. Set in a corrupted city dominated by mysterious kingpin Mr. X, our three heroes battle through eight stages of well-balanced and enjoyable mayhem. Choose your fighter and take to the streets in a flourish of neon-lit slums and hard-hitting techno. The game's atmosphere is as prominent as the intuitive control system. Although the Mega Drive controller only had three buttons, the range of attacks per character is impressive. With a wealth of punches, kicks and throw techniques at your disposal, laying waste to wave after wave of criminal scum becomes second nature. Throw in a range of weapons, such as bottles and the ever-effective baseball bat, and you have a game that is pure fun from the get-go and that is even more enjoyable with a second player. Fast, frantic and fun, grab a mate and have a go of the two-player. You wont be disappointed. [Dave Cook]
