Innocent Life(Rising Star Games)

exceptionally slow, but rewarding

Game Review by Craig Wilson | 10 Jun 2007
Weeding, tilling earth and watering seeds: just some of the tasks medieval serfs were forced to endure day in day out to avoid famine and death. The future, it appears, will be no different, only serfs will have been replaced by robots, robots in the guise of young boys. Yet don't let that put you off. So long as your willing to accept the slow pace and the cutesy, if somewhat absurd, world you can be rewarded in far more satisfying ways than achieving yet another 'head shot'. A very linear game, the story in Innocent Life plays the most important role in any Harvest game to date. The farming also takes a back seat to the adventure, while facets from previous games, such as (often disturbingly) gaining an equally young wife, are gone. Visually, the island you inhabit is very beautiful, with natural and meteorological effects often providing a dazzling feast for the eyes. This is an exceptionally slow game, but, with some patience, a rewarding one too. (Craig Wilson)
