Get set to outrun some shady government agents on your BMX, power up on Eggo waffles and battle the dreaded Demogorgon, as Stranger Things gets a video game for your mobile.

Like the show, Stranger Things: The Game is pleasingly retro, rendered in the 8-bit style of 80s arcade games and Nintendo consoles. You investigate the strange goings on in the fictional small town of Hawkins, Indiana and sometimes shift dimensions into the creepy Upside Down, the dark world of death and monsters that features in the show.

You can play chief Jim Hopper as he explores the mysterious top secret lab on the outskirts of Hawkins or as one of the younger protagonists who are looking for their missing friend, Will Byers. The press release suggests the new game is full of little easter eggs too, and sharp gamers will be able to unlock "secret characters or exclusive, never-before-seen-footage of Season Two." Watch the trailer for the game below.

Stranger Things season 2 is released on Netflix, 27 Oct; Stranger Things: The Game is available at iOS App Store and the Google Play Store now.
