Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady planned their wedding in 10 days.

The couple married in Santa Monica in February, a month after getting engaged. The pair saw no point in waiting when they realised they were ready to tie the knot, and decided they only wanted close family at the nuptials.

Gisele, 29, and Tom's parents were joined by his then 18-month-old son John, his child with ex-partner Bridget Moynahan, at Santa Monica's Catholic Church.

"We planned the wedding in like 10 days, and it was perfect," Tom, 32, told America's GQ magazine. "We went back to the house and I barbecued aged New York strips. We had champagne, a cake, some ice cream. It was a great night. I think you always have this idea that weddings need to be 200 people and you invite everybody, and I'm all for it if people want to do that, but I think there was really something special about just having our parents there."

The couple decided to hold another wedding at supermodel Gisele's Costa Rican home, to which they invited more friends and family. "The thing about it is, the day's for you. It's nothing personal against anybody, but it's not about them. It's about what you and your wife need for that day," he said.

New England Patriots quarterback Tom is enjoying married life, and is looking forward to the birth of the couple's first child, a girl, next month. He admits their hectic work schedules can make it hard to find time to be together, adding Gisele knows he isn't at his best when his team have lost a game.

He said: "Gisele understands the job requirements. I get some time with her on my day off, Tuesday, and then Wednesday, Thursday, Friday nights. Probably after wins I'm more with her. After losses, I don't think much of anything other than the game. This morning at breakfast, for instance, I was talking to her, but I just wasn't there."
