Sugababes' video uses stunt doubles

The Sugababes’ latest music video was shot using stunt doubles.

Heidi Range has revealed bitter feuds within the girl band meant the video for new single About a Girl was filmed without any members of the group present. A few days later, Keisha Buchanan was ousted from the band, and a new video starring Heidi, Amelle Berrabah and new member Jade Ewen was shot, meaning the fake version was never released.

“The band’s future was still in doubt so the record company made the video anyway, only using body doubles,” Heidi explained. “They thought, there’s no band but we still need a video to put out with this song, so the girls who were our stunt doubles became the stars.”

Heidi also revealed she and Amelle were so sick of the band’s infighting, they didn’t care if they had left instead of Keisha.

“It wasn’t even a case of asking, ‘Can we get someone else?’ ” Heidi told Britain’s The Times newspaper. “It was, ‘That’s it... we can’t do it anymore.’ They said, ‘Are you sure?’ and we said, ‘Yes’. We didn’t know if the label would drop us and keep Keisha, but we didn’t really have a choice. It just couldn’t go on.”
