Sarah Jessica Parker loves the smell of dirty nappies.

The actress enjoys looking after four-month-old twins Marion and Tabitha - who were born via a surrogate mother - so much, she remains enthusiastic even when it comes to changing time.

"I love the smell of diapers," she tells America's Elle magazine. "I even like it when they're wet and you smell them all warm liked a baked good. I love the smell of Balmex. Love it."

Sarah Jessica reveals she and her husband Matthew Broderick considered different options when they decided to expand their family. The couple - who already have a seven-year-old son, James Wilkie - understood their decision to use a surrogate would spark controversy, but it felt right for them.

The 44-year-old star explained: "I knew there would be lots of opinions about, 'Well, why didn't you adopt? Why didn't you do this? Why didn't you do that?' and the truth of the matter is, it wasn't one or the other for us. We had explored, and continue to explore all options, and this one just happened first. This isn't the period at the end of the sentence."

During the interview for the December issue of the publication, Sarah Jessica also dismisses reports she doesn't get on with her Sex and the City co-star Kim Cattrall. The pair have teamed up for another big screen adaptation of the hit TV series and Sarah Jessica couldn't imagine playing Carrie Bradshaw without Kim beside her.

"I don't think anybody wants to believe that I love Kim," she says. "I adore her. I wouldn't have done the movie without her. Didn't and wouldn't."
