Rod Stewart is desperate for another baby.

The 64 year-old rocker has seven children with five women but feels ready to become a father again. He has confirmed he and wife Penny Lancaster, with who he has three-year-old son Alastair, are currently trying to add to their brood.

"Yes, we're trying - we actually tried last night," Rod said. "One more and then we're going to close the office."

Rod is enjoying being a father later in life, explaining that as well as promoting his new album Soulbook he is currently trying to teach Alastair

football. Despite Rod's best efforts he isn't sure Alastair has much natural aptitude for the sport, adding his son lacks the concentration needed for the game.

Rod told UK breakfast show GMTV: "He's just a sweet kid at the moment. I did take him out on the football field the other day. He put all his kit on, I said, 'Come on, let's get running out there,' and he went, 'Oh, there's some flowers for mummy - must collect them.' He spent about two hours collecting flowers in a basket for his mum!"
