Robbie Williams has revealed that he fears he will be a “selfish” dad.

The singer is in a long-term relationship with American actress Ayda Field and the pair have been discussing settling down and starting a family. Although Robbie would love to have kids, the star accepts he will have to significantly change his lifestyle.

“We have been talking about having a baby. I am scared I’m not going to be the best dad I can be,” Robbie confessed on daytime show This Morning. “I am a really selfish person. I have been by myself for a long time. I’m used to doing whatever I like, whenever I like.”

Robbie is confident he will be able to adapt quickly if Ayda does become pregnant and the 35-year-old British star believes his paternal instincts will kick in as soon as he sets eyes on his baby. “I hope the switch turns on – I hope when I become a father, I will look at my baby and think, ‘Yes you are mine and I love you’,” Robbie added.

Robbie has also spoken about rumours he will soon propose to Ayda. Although he doesn’t feel the need to tie the knot to prove his commitment to the beauty, he is willing to make it official because it is important to Ayda. “She wants to get married. I will get married for her.”
