Penelope Cruz hints at engagement

Penelope Cruz has hinted she is engaged.

The Spanish actress sparked speculation she was planning to marry actor Javier Bardem when she attended the premiere of Broken Promises wearing a huge sapphire and diamond ring on her left ring finger last month.

When questioned about the engagement by US talk show host David Lettermen, the 35-year-old star giggled before saying: “I don’t feel comfortable talking about my private life in public.”

Lettermen asked again, but Penelope refused to deny the rumours, saying: “I've been here a few times with you, you know I'm tough. One thing I don't do, I don't lie about my personal life. It's sacred to me. It's my life. But I don't give details about it because I am allergic to that.”

Lettermen sighed and said: “So you know, but you don't want to tell me?”

Penelope laughed and said: “I know, but I choose not to share some things!”
