Leona Lewis is “too scared” to download music illegally.

The singer never dared to use the internet to find her favourite tunes for free, believing the police would immediately know if she ever tried.

She said: “I never downloaded music illegally. I was always too scared – I thought the police would come over to my place and break down the door! I’ve got too much respect for music.”

Leona also revealed she felt inspired to produce great material after working with Justin Timberlake on her new album Echo. The 24-year-old star was determined to impress Justin and is pleased with her efforts. “Writing with people like Justin Timberlake, John Shanks and the Swedish writers meant that I had to step up my game,” Leona revealed to Britain’s OK! magazine. “They are really the best at what they do so I felt I really had to pull it out of the bag. I learned so much from them.”

Leona got on so well with Justin, he even came into the recording studio and lent his voice to one of the tracks on her LP.

She explained: “We did a couple of songs together, but there was only one that made the album. He helps me out on the backing vocals on that song.”
