Kristen Stewart says Twilight fans are the “ultimate driving force”.

The actress, who portrays Bella in the vampire movie franchise, is grateful to the hordes of people who are devoted to the films as they inspire her to work as hard as possible. She is terrified of letting them down, but is sure they will enjoy the latest instalment New Moon.

She explained: “We’re all very thankful to have the massively enthused fan base we have, it’s the ultimate driving force.”

Kristen, 19, is rumoured to be in a romantic relationship with her co-star Robert Pattinson, who plays brooding blood sucker Edward Cullen. Although she won’t comment on the claims, she does admit they enjoy working together as they are so in tune.

She said: “We’re both pretty instinctual, impulsive actors. We don’t really hash things over and over and over because we both know out characters fairly well so it was easy to step back into the project. Once you play someone you don’t forget who you are.”

In the latest film, Edward and Bella’s relationship is put to the test when he disappears. Bella turns to werewolf Jacob Black, played by Taylor Lautner, for advice, and ends up growing close to him.

“Edward and Jacob offer totally different things,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “Every human being in the world has a void, because you can’t live life by yourself, humans can’t be alone. Bella is instinctually in need and can’t live without Edward. So, if I had something like that I would definitely have to go for it, there wouldn’t be a choice.

“Objectively from the outside she should be with Jacob. She’s best friends with him, he’s warm and it’s easy, there’s no problems – but you can’t always take the easy way.”
