The TV star has praised the 21-year-old singer for having the courage to reveal what happened when her on/off boyfriend Chris Brown assaulted her in February. Kelly hopes Rihanna’s actions will help other young girls in violent relationships.

She told Closer magazine: "I'm glad Rihanna is finally opening up about Chris Brown. It's admirable she's taking a stand and acting as a voice for women all over the world who are too scared to come forward themselves after being victims of domestic violence. It's something that happens far too often and I hope Rihanna's courage can help women out who have been through the same thing, or even worse."

During a revealing interview with Diane Sawyer last week, Rihanna admitted she felt embarrassed for taking Chris back after he had punched, bit and choked her in a car. The beauty also said the R‘n’B star “had no soul in his eyes” when he attacked her.

Meanwhile, Kelly has spoken about her teary outburst with her professional partner on TV show Dancing with the Stars last week. The 25-year-old claims her argument with Louis Van Amstel was sparked by a misunderstanding.

"Louis told me I wasn't putting enough effort in and I ended up bursting into tears,” she says. “But it was actually a lost-in-translation moment because what Louis actually meant was that I need to be injecting more personality into the dances."
