Jon Voight reconciles with Angelina Jolie

Jon Voight has confirmed he has reconciled with daughter Angelina Jolie.

The 70-year-old actor and Angelina fell out in 2001 after Jon appeared on US TV begging her to get help for her “serious mental prob lems”. Angelina cut Jon out of her life, but he insists they have now begun to repair their relationship.

He told US Weekly magazine: “We're in touch, but not regularly. We love each other and that's the most important thing.”

The pair reportedly met for the first time in months in February, with Angelina the driving force behind the reconciliation. Her partner Brad Pitt, with who she raises six children, apparently encouraged her to get in touch.

A source said: “Angelina made the initial contact. Brad has been supportive - a key factor in her reaching out.”

Angelina gave birth to twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline last year, and Jon admitted he was hopeful he would get to meet them last November.

He said: “The twins! Holy smokes... I'm hoping to meet them then, so we'll see! I think it's wonderful that she loves kids. She always had this very unusual idea about family. I can't really attribute it to anyone.”
