Johnny Depp’s hairdresser says his cuts are like “cashmere”.

John Nollet, who created the dreadlocked style Johnny sported as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise, insists his £1,000 cuts aren’t overpriced as they are the best on the market.

He said: “The difference between my haircut and any other is a bit like trying on the cashmere version of a favourite wool sweater.”

John’s expertise will soon be available in London, as he is offering a series of appointments to people looking to splash their cash ahead of the Christmas party season. Dates are available through the first week of December.

John has worked with a series of Hollywood stars, including Audrey Tautou – he gave her the bob she sported in 2001 film Amelie. He enjoys working on movie sets, and thinks hair is pivotal when making a character seem believable.

“The point of movies is the scenario so that is the first thing I look at. I go over the storyboard, talk to the director and the actresses,” he has said. “It’s interesting because it’s all about the right volume and style of hair to put a character in a certain period. I do the same to movie characters as I do to my other customers. It’s about their own personality and with movies it’s about the personality they have to be.”
