Diane von Furstenberg has revealed she would feel “insecure” if she had cosmetic surgery.

The 62-year-old fashion designer has no intention of going under the knife as she does not like the way operations make people look. She prefers to exercise and eat healthily, and is convinced that is why her skin has remained wrinkle free.

“I feel like an old turtle,” she said. “I haven’t had any work done but I do yoga twice and week and also Pilates. I know people who look at me and say, ‘Why doesn’t she do something? Get some surgery?’ But if I start doing things, I would feel insecure.”

Diane – who is famed for her wrap dresses - has known she wanted a successful career since she was a child. She remembers being jealous of her friend’s mother, a successful career-woman, when she was young and never had any interest in being a stay-at-home wife.

She told Elle magazine: “My best friend’s mother was a businesswoman and I remember that on my friend’s sixth birthday she arrived late. She was wearing a suit and was in a hurry – I thought that was so glamorous.

“Marriage was not a goal for me, more than anything I wanted a career. The name Diane means ‘huntress’. I always had this fantasy of having a man’s life in a woman’s body. The last thing I wanted to be was one of those girls who says, ‘Is he going to call me tomorrow?’ Let the men worry if I’m going to call.”
