Beyonce thinks drug use just cry for attention

Beyonce Knowles thinks pop stars take drugs to "stay in the spotlight".

The singer never drinks heavily or experiment with illicit substances, and thinks celebrities who do are just desperate to make the headlines. The 28-year-old star says she would rather be "unknown" than be famous for partying.

"I think some of these people do it because they maybe feel it's the only way to stay in the spotlight," she is quoted by More magazine as saying. "I think it's a sad state of affairs when it comes to that. I'd rather be unknown than have to do that. I don't do drugs or heavy drinking or anything like that. You don't see me falling out of clubs. I was brought up better than that. That's not me."

But Beyonce acknowledges she's not perfect. The 28-year-old beauty - who is married to hip-hop mogul Jay-Z - admits she is not as tidy as people would like her to be. She said: "I can be messy! I guess that's bad habit!"
