Bette Midler to save trees

Feature by Cover Media | 11 Nov 2009

Bette Midler is organising a star-studded auction to raise money for trees.

The singer-and-actress has called upon 100 of her celebrity friends to show their support for the New York Restoration Project. Each celebrity will auction off a once-in-a-lifetime experience to the highest bidder.

Bette says she is putting the "fun" back into fundraising to raise money for her foundation, which is "greening New York City one block at a time".

Prizes up for grabs include lunch with Richard Branson and a week-long stay at his private Necker Island, front row tickets to Bette's Las Vegas show, a private tennis lesson with John McEnroe, an internship at Rolling Stone magazine and a walk on role with Steve Carrell and Paul Rudd in new movie Dinner for Schmucks.

Daniel Craig, John Mayer, Robin Williams and Cher are also offering the opportunity to meet them in person and receive VIP tickets to their respective shows.

The online auction will be hosted by charityfolks.com and closes on November 13.
