Luckily for the girl in question. happy slapping's had its time; today's trendy wannabes are gushing over that oh-so-new fad, Indie - and sturdily gripping the broom (from what these ears can hear) is Cardiff trio The Victorian English Gentlemens Club. New double A-side La Mer/Stupid As Wood is an offering of emotionless guitar drones splashed over shuddering out-of-time percussion. It's as original as Girls Aloud – without any of the energy.
