The Early Years - All Ones And Zeros

Spiralling, backward guitars hitch a ride on an insistent Death in Vegas-style rhythm

Single Review by Milo McLaughlin | 15 Feb 2006
Single title: All Ones And Zeros
Artist: The Early Years
Label: Beggars Banquet
The demo version of this track was a favourite of BBC One Music DJ Huw Stephens, who must also be a fan of Ride and Spiritualized. Spiralling, backward guitars hitch a ride on an insistent Death in Vegas-style rhythm, a disembodied voice mutters something about binary code, and it all descends into a wigged out maelstrom of drums. It all ends a little too soon, but luckily the additional tracks on the single continue the reverie and suggest greater things aren't far off. [Milo McLaughlin]
