Seafood - Love Song / I'll Be There In The Morning

Could be interesting as a performance piece, certainly, but not as recorded work.

Single title: Love Song / I'll Be There In The Morning
Artist: Seafood

Why certain bands cover certain songs and insert no new twists on them will always remain a mystery. Take Seafood's new download-only double single. They cover The Cure's Love Song, only, low and behold, it sounds exactly like The Cure's original, except with David Line singing. They then go on to cover Townes Van Zandt's whimsical ballad, I'll Be Here In The Morning with much the same result. It's hard to imagine two songs more suited to the wayward style of Seafood, but remarkably, the band has chosen to do so little with either. Could be interesting as a performance piece, certainly, but not as recorded work. [Neil Ferguson]
