Ripchord - Lock Up Your Daughters (And Throw Away The Key) (1965)

not long out of school, but there's a certain accomplished maturity

Single Review by Jon Seller | 11 Jan 2007
Single title: Lock Up Your Daughters
Artist: Ripchord
Latest in the line of 1965 Records' 'next big things', Wolverhampton four-piece Ripchord's debut is a feisty little number; all ska rhythms and with a sufficient catchy melody to keep things interesting. A tip of the hat to early Blur is evident throughout, with Britpop stalwarts Supergrass not far behind. Although not long out of school, there's a certain accomplished maturity to the sound here and whilst they may not set the world on fire, there's enough here to suggest there's more to come.
