Oceansize - Music for a Nurse

forgettable vocals, unfocused swirls and lonely guitars.

Single Review by Gareth K Vile | 13 Oct 2006
Single title: Music for a Nurse
Artist: Oceansize
Label: Beggars Banquet
The majesty of Godspeed You Black Emperor was bound to provoke imitation: Oceansize manage to ape the Canadian anarchist orchestra with a slow, intense build up, before sliding into forgettable vocals, unfocused swirls and lonely guitars. As the advert for the freedom afforded by mobile phones, parts of this eight-minute opus have appeared on television already, and any excitement generated by the lush instrumentation and groaning guitars is swiftly evaporated by the thought that it is a derivative facsimile compromised by being part of a campaign for unnecessary technology.
